programs
In the USA, Urban design is predominantly a post-professional design program. It is a discipline typically built onto a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Planning, or Landscape Architecture. Some universities offer dual degrees, and others may offer undergraduate studies or Minor programs in urban design. Still others overlap urban design with other degree programs, such as architecture. The urban design degree is different from an urban studies degree, for example, because it is design based. Students in urban design programs learn to engage the formal and systemic environment, in addition to the political, historical, and social.
